Senior Solutions Architect - AI & Platforms SME

As a Senior Solutions Architect in GitLab’s global Solutions Architecture Center of Excellence, you’ll be the trusted technical advisor and pre-sales partner who helps customers unlock the full value of GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform. You will solve complex challenges by connecting GitLab, AI agents, security, and cloud-native capabilities to real business outcomes.

Reporting to the Senior Director, you will act as the AI Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a team of specialists. You’ll own technical strategy for strategic accounts, lead value stream and Proof of Value (PoV) engagements, and serve as the technical “CTO” for your accounts. Your first year will focus on driving platform evaluations, shaping AI-led architectures, and creating reusable assets to raise GitLab’s technical bar globally.

What You’ll Do

• AI Subject Matter Expert: Operate as an AI SME with a focus on platform strategy, competitive positioning, and business value justification.

• Technical Validation: Lead technical discovery, architecture design, demos, and end-to-end evaluations (POC/POV) to validate GitLab as the preferred agentic, AI-powered DevSecOps platform.

• Strategic Advisory: Own technical strategy for assigned accounts, acting as a "technical CTO" to guide multi-team, multi-year transformation initiatives.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Marketing to shape account strategies and ensure successful adoption.

• Pre-Sales Leadership: Provide advanced technical guidance during the pre-sales cycle, including tender support, workshop design, and solving complex integration challenges.

• Voice of the Customer: Translate real-world feedback into product requirements and roadmap input, specifically for AI, security, and platform capabilities.

• Knowledge Sharing: Create reusable technical assets (reference architectures, best practice guides) and mentor other Solutions Architects to scale impact globally.

What You’ll Bring

• AI Expertise: Deep hands-on expertise with AI, such as designing/implementing AI-powered solutions or acting as an AI SME for customers.

• Technical Pre-Sales: Experience in pre-sales, software consulting, or similar roles connecting complex technology to business outcomes.

• Modern DevOps: Practical background in software development/operations, including CI/CD, DevSecOps practices, and related tooling.

• Cloud Architecture: Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and how they integrate into secure, scalable application delivery.

• Solution Design: Ability to explain technical architectures that span multiple teams and phases of the software lifecycle (planning through monitoring).

• Stakeholder Management: Skill in leading technical evaluations and workshops with diverse stakeholders, from engineers to executives.

• Growth Mindset: Motivation to continuously build new skills; transferable experience in security, data, or cloud architecture is highly encouraged.

As an AI-focused Solutions Architect, you’ll contribute to the technical standards and frameworks that support GitLab’s most strategic accounts.
